BRIEF HISTORY

The Orphanage College was established by an individual in the year 2011. It is located at Gwargwaje Zaria, Kaduna State as a Boarding Co-educational Institution leading to the award of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) at the end of Six Years of Study in the School. It was officially declared opened by The Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Shehu Idris, CFR, on 02/01/2011.

The College is mainly funded by its founder. The Assistance of other Individuals, Voluntary Organizations and Donor Agencies both within and outside Nigeria are sought for to further develop, expand and sustain the College.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The establishment of the College is generally aimed at giving future hope to the Orphans as summed-up in the Vision and Mission Statements of the College, while the specific objectives are as follows:

1. to foster the spirit of oneness and national unity among the less privileged students (Orphans).


2. to help in achieving the Aims and Objectives of Secondary Education as set out in the National Policy on Education, through the pursuit of appropriate curricula and teaching aimed at preparation of orphans for useful living within the society and preparation for Higher Education.


3. Develop Individual Talents in Games, Sports and Cultural Activities.


4. Inculcate the spirit of Leadership and Self Discipline of the less privileged students (Orphans) through participation in the management of classroom, boarding house, cultural and societal organizations.


5. Inculcate moral discipline that would help to rejuvenate the less privileged (Orphans) in the society.


6. Provide Qualitative Teaching and Learning Environment for the less privileged students (Orphans) to attain excellence in high level of education and other field of endeavour.

GENERAL REMARKS ABOUT THE COLLEGE

It should be noteworthy that ALL the 480 Students are Orphans and the College provides them with full Tuition and Boarding facilities free of charge. This is in line with the Vision, Mission and Objectives upon which the College was established. In addition to the founder’s effort people like Bro. Mohammed Aslam in the United Kingdom has been donating for years to augment the running of the College. A host of others also do send in cash donation, food items, books, computers and undertake projects like boreholes. And in some cases others send in goodwill messages.

 

Finally, it is the desire of the College to make its existence known to the larger world so that more philanthropists, voluntary organizations, Donor Agencies etc, may become part of the moving train to Aljanat Firdaus.

Remember, the students are all Orphans put together in one place making it easier for you to partake in making them to grow well and become responsible citizens. Our address is quite accessible; we are located at Saminaka Street, Gwargwaje, P. M. B 1095 Zaria, along the famous Zaria- Kaduna Road, Kaduna State.
